Valencia football club have become the first professional football club to promote their Twitter account via their match day shirts. The club have been struggling to tie down a shirt sponsor for the 2011/12 season and after a very bright marketing manager convinced the big boys to give it a shot, they did! Playing against Barcelona is not a bad time to launch the new initiative either. Who from Spain doesn’t watch the best footballing side on the planet week in, week out? I know I do and I am not even a Barca fan!
Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas (right) became the first player in history to score 4 goals in his first 4 league games for Barca!
This has given me an awesome idea for our new Mr Cape Town 5’s kit as well. I was just going to pop my blog logo on the front, but I rate this is the way to go for us! Logo on the heart, with a @Mr_CapeTown branding printed on the front! I really think this is something that may take off with smaller sports sides, who have smaller budgets and are looking for maximum exposure! Maybe it could even work for School’s, Night Clubs or even at retail level!
