The Premier League had yet another twist as Chelsea slipped to an unusual defeat. Fernando Torres and the Anfield outfit looked fired up an ready to go after news that Frank Lampard, Essien and Drogba would not be in the starting 11. A moment of brilliance from Raul Meireles let Torres in on goal, as the striker brought down a pass and finished neatly in the corner. Torres struck again just before half time to seal the tie, with a splendid curling effort from the edge of the area, after some initial trickery. For once Lucas had an eye catching performance alongside Steven Gerrard.
Arsenal were at home to Newcastle with sights set on yet another stroll in the park. It was not to be and Andy Carroll broke the deadlock with a towering header, leaving the Gunners keeper stranded. We all said before the match that Carol would be the one to watch and the boy did himself no harm, under the watchful eye of Fabio Capello ๐ Arsenal were reduced to 10 men late on, with new signing Koscielny seeing red for the second time in 11 games. The Gunners drop to third, 3 points behind Man United.
Over at The Hawthorns West Brom were overhauled by Manchester City. 2 goals and a red card from hot head Mario Balotelli shows that there is still a lot of work for Roberto Mancini to do with the young striker. He is looking to be an awesome talent and, with some work and guidance he could become one of the best strikers in England! His second goal showed some of his brilliance as he sealed victory for the side from The Eastlands. Joe Hart once again caught my eye with and outstanding save from Shorey’s free-kick.
Earlier in the weekend it was Manchester United who seemed to profit most from their result at home against Wolves. Once again the Red Devils let a one goal lead slip, only for Ji Sung Park to score his second of the match. It was a cracker of a winner late on, in typical United fashion. It seems the young guns like Macheda, Obertan, Bebe, Hernandez, Gibson, Nani, Fabio, Rafael and Cleverley will have to show loads of maturity if they are to see the title come home to The Theatre of Dreams. United find themselves second on the log, 2 points adrift of leaders Chelsea, with a vital tie at The City of Manchester stadium at 21h55pm on Wednesday night. Wherever you find yuourself try have a watch, because it is going to be one heated Derby!
