Manchester United scored a late penalty to draw 1-1 away at Blackburn Rovers. My hero Javier Hernandez aka Chicharito, won the penny and it was smashed home by none other than… You guessed it @WayneRooney! Rooney always seems to be there when you really need him, this time he sealed the Premiership title. The significance of it all is that it is the 19th domestic title for United. Alex Ferguson said when he took over at the club that he would “Knock Liverpool Of Their Pirch” and that he did. Special mention must go to Sir Alex & Ryan Giggs for being the stalwarts that communicate everything that Manchester United is about, and, instilling that desire into all of the other players! As Giggs said in his interview “we always have a goal in us.”
Manchester United is now officially the most successful team in domestic English football. They could also go one step further by beating Barcelona at Wembley, effectively winning their 4th European trophy. Although that may be a bit of a harder task than getting a result against Blackburn. Because I am a United fan for life this day has just become all that much sweeter for me. If you are driving along Geneva Drive in Camps Bay you will probably notice my Manchester flag hanging from the awnings 😉 I am going to have my own little set of awards, for players that I feel deserve special mention for their contribution this season.
