Manchester have snapped up another striker in the form of Portuguese youngster Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, better know as Bébé. Sir Alex was alerted about the talented 20 year old striker by former assistant Carlos Queiroz earlier this month. Sir Alex was in court to defend his former number 2 over a dispute about the Portuguese national team.
It seems Carlos has provided Sir Alex with information hopefully unearthing another gem from his home country. Queiroz was said to be influential in the signings of Ronaldo, Nani, the Da Silva twins and French youngster Paul Pogba who looks a huge talent for the future. The relatively unknown 20 year old Bébé has joined United from Portuguese club Vitória de Guimarães, just 5 weeks after completing a 5 year deal from Estrela da Amadora in the Portuguese third division.
The deal is said to be worth around £7.4 million. Some might say this is a hefty price to pay for an unknown player, but let’s not forget what people were saying about Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez who looks like he could be a hit at Old Trafford over the next few seasons. Bébé is a big, strong lad, who is confident on the ball, has an eye for goal and a hell of a shot from long range. Let’s hope Sir Alex can work his magic with yet another Portuguese youngster 😉
In other news Danny Wellbeck is set to join Sunderland on a season long loan as Steve Bruce looks to replace Jones who was sold for 8 million on Saturday to rivals Stoke City.
Ex Manchester United defender Bruce is also said to be keen on bringing Craig Bellamy to the Stadium of Light. Bruce said: “There’s a lot of clubs who would love Craig Bellamy. He’s a fantastic player but whether it’s possible, I’m not quite sure. “I’ve been a big admirer of Craig’s for a long, long time. If he’s available, which it looks like he is, and if we could afford him, then I would love to bring Craig to the football club.”
