Chelsea have all but signed a deal with Brazilian midfielder Ramires. The Benfica star is set to join Chelsea in a deal said to be around £17 million. Ramires will put the finishing touches to a Blues side that were outplayed at Wembley on Sunday by a young United side. After loosing Deco, Carvalho, Ballack, Joe Cole and Belletti at the close of last season, the young Brazilian will be a vital addition to the squad.

A work permit proved to be the major issue, but after the midfielder has returned to England today, it is said to be all sorted in that department for the deal to go through. “Ramires is doing medical tests again and we hope that he will sign a contract,” said Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti. “I hope he will sign soon. He is a fantastic player. He will be the future of the Brazil national team and I hope he will be the future of Chelsea”.
