Captain America with a last gasp winner for the USA.
Once again the never say die attitude of the USA football side saw them win their group in stoppage time at the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1930.In their second group game they came back from 2 goals down to draw the game against Slovenia and were unlucky not to win it when a late goal was disallowed by the referee.

This time around it was Algeria who stood in their way. England were heading through to top the group leading Slovenia 1-0 in the other group game in PE, it was left late on in stoppage time for Mr America himself, Landon Donovan to selvage a last gasp winner ensuring the USA would top the group for the first time in 80 years!
I was personally watching the England game myself, who I must say aren’t at their best, but looked in better form than the previous 2 games against the USA and Algeria respectively. Coach Fabio Capello did tinker with the starting 11 a bit and this might give him a selection headache going into the round of 16, especially because it looks likely his England side will be meeting the winners of group D, very possibly the deadly looking German side!

But for the time being the praise should go today to a truly great display of faith from the US National team and Captain America himself…Landon Donovan!
