The write up this morning is nothing we haven’t heard before and in the wake of the movie, The Social Network, a host of people have picked up on the interesting story of how this life changer came along. I am not going to comment on the actual story itself as it is over 2 pages and touches on various different aspects of the worlds most powerful social networking tool.
It also covers a small insert about Aaron Sorkin & David Fincher who are both technophobes, as they take a poke into “the world of the billion-dollar geeks”. David Fincher is the director of many hit movies such as Fight Club, Seven and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Funnily enough, he has never been on Facebook and never knew a thing about it until recently. This is music to my ears as this is the very same guy that directed the film, The Social Network based on the rise of Facebook…
Zuckerberg, the co-owner and founder of Facebook started this whole worldwide phenomenon simply pinning pictures of Harvard girls up against each other for fellow students to vote. Within a few days they had crashed the Harvard server and then knew the potential of this tool was real. Traffic was at an all time high and ideas weren’t hard to come by, with the help of their new recruit, the creator of Napster…With power comes fighting and the film has no shortage of either.
Try get yourself a copy of the Sunday Times this morning as I woul like to know your views about whether you think Facebook is a Brave New World or a Digital Disease? I ask this as I am a user of the programme myself and believe that it can be the cause of both good…and evil 😉
