If you have not yet heard, Skype will most likely be taken over by one of the biggest brands in the online realm. I lie, there are actually 2 potential suitors, which include none other than search engine giant Google, and, none other than you guessed it; Facebook! It has been said Zuckerberg has been in close contact with the company over a possible 3-4 Billion Dollar deal! Both parties have individually inquired about a possible partnership or acquisition in the near future.
Free Facebook/Skype calls to other Facebook users? Bring it on!!!
Being a social media fiend myself, I would probably opt for the latter. Imagine Facebook with video chat capabilities? The opportunities to communicate with targeted consumers and brands are endless and this could bring a whole new meaning to the terms research, and, customer service/insights 😉 Skype already had up to 124 million monthly users just a few months ago and partnering with either of these brands would help jump start exponential growth!
Who will come out on top? I hope it is Facebook, but hey Google ain't too bad either 😉
