How was your weekend at Synergy bra? The photos looked epic I must say ! Did you lads make some loot at the bar, meet loads of pretty women and have a blast all at the same time? I love being a bartender sometimes…So I went down to Durban on the weekend to go a flair against the countries best at a competition called nationals. They take the best 3 in each region; KZN,CT,JHB and put them up against each other in a classic mixology contest and a flair contest.
I placed 4th in my first ever Nationals as a flair bartender and have placed 3rd in mixology before. I should have entered this next drink in the mixo just to see if I still have it? Any ways it is a drink I did in the previous issue of Avocado magazine, it might look familiar to some of you. It’s a great way we re-invented the spritzer – check out September/October Avo issue for the rest of the recipes.
Mr. Cape Town:
My man, that was one of the most organised events I have ever been to! The over extravagant branding, the people, the employees, the legend bar staff and of course the 1000’s of belters running around the place made it all the merrier 😉 We did not make anything to write home about at the bar, but hey no one waited for too long for a dop and they were all ice cold, so who is complaining? I also got a free ticket which was worth a good few hunt, pity I got so open after shift that I woke up in Cape Town not even knowing what day it was! The joys of being a bartender…I hear you on that one!
By the way, the lady from Lucozade got hold of me and they are too jam packed sponsoring people and charities on a National level to even consider us…Oh well, I suppose we are not Steven Gerrard or Arsenal FC for that matter. In due time…Well done on the flair competition, no way you would beat my mate Travis from Pure bar Studio’s in the first one 😉 I heard he won it?
Round 7:
The drink for this week is one with a little difference, it has white wine in it 😉 Perfect for those hot Summer days in the Cape, sipping on some ice cold Sauvignon Blanc Cocktails…
