It was announced on Friday 15 October that local media agency Vizeum will be taking over the BMW SA ‘s media account as of 1st January 2011. Vizeum SA will focus their attention on media strategy, planing and buying. This comes as no surprise to me as many companies now prefer to do business with one client that can handle all of the necessary work, rather than splitting it between a few smaller entities. This ensures there are less barriers to communication, all sectors can work in unison, ensuring the work is of a higher quality and produced in a more timely manner.
Vizeum replaces Nota Bene (media planning) and The Media Shop (media buying). According to Xoliswa Ndungane, GM: BMW marketing, “In line with the company’s internal corporate governance requirements, BMW South Africa regularly re-evaluates its suppliers, via a tender process, when existing contracts come up for renewal. Whilst we would like to thank both The Media Shop and Nota Bene for a job well-done in the past, we have found a partner in Vizeum that can successfully consolidate our media strategy, planning and buying needs within a single agency structure.”
It has been said that it was Vizeum’s allignment & passion for the BMW brand that convinced the company to make this move. Vizeum has now landed a massive global brand and I hope that they can successfully grow the BMW brand into the future, with innovative, unique marketing methods. I expect the best from a brand like BMW, therefore Vizeum has just set itself a very high bar, because I will be checking back soon to monitor their progress…
