I’m a bit sad to see the Fifa World Cup to have come and gone so quickly. But one thing is for sure, it will never be forgotten. People all had their doubts whether the stadiums would be ready, transport networks would run effectively, crime would be the centre of attention and whether we were capable of hosting a successful tournament.
But I can say on behalf of the World, the event was a huge success and the people of South Africa helped market the country better than any paid for campaign could do! And that can be backed up by Sepp Blatter the president of FIFA, who gave us a 9/10 for the month that we hosted the FIFA World Cup…
The whole vibe, spirit, enthusiasm, charisma and joy sparked a campaign that no advertising campaign in the world could match. The event has changed the outlook of International Countries and how they see our wonderful little Country on the Southern most tip of the African continent. I am proud to say I enjoyed it so much and I hope it can kick on to re spark the togetherness that was present in the formation of the Rainbow Nation all those years ago. And who could forget the rise of a new star – that bloody German, Paul The Octopus.
No doubt I will be going to Brazil in 2014 to witness what I feel could well be the best World Cup of all time. I need to learn a few Samba moves first though from my good mate Jay đ
