As we kick of yet another thrilling week of Champions League football the pick of the ties have to be; Ajax vs Real Madrid, Rangers vs Manchester United, Roma vs Bayer Munich, Auxerre vs AC Milan and FC Braga vs Arsenal. I always look forward to this competition the most as it is so unpredictable! I hope we get a few upsets this week and Fergie rewards Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez with a start for his continued efforts in the Premier League π
Okay, so here is a summary of the best games of the UEFA Champions League:
Ajax vs Real Madrid:
Ajax are without World Cup wanker Suarez, who I am sure you all remember. One thing I cannot deny is his class, but after biting an opponent midweek he is suspended for tonight’s clash.
AMSTERDAM — Ajax suspended striker Luis Suarez for two games on Monday after television replays showed Suarez biting PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkal on Saturday in their 0-0 draw. In a statement on the club’s official website, Ajax announced the suspension and stated that it was “because of what happened during Ajax-PSV on Saturday night.” – Toronto Sun
Real Madrid are firing on all cylinders and none other than your favourite (and some worst enemy) Cristiano CR7 Ronaldo is on damn hot form! He scored yet another hat trick for Real on the weekend in the 5-1 victory. I can’t see this going any other way but a Real win!
Rangers vs Manchester United:
What a tie! I am a United fan myself, and, this has to be one of the biggest of the historical clashes Britain has to offer? The stadiums are always packed and the fans ain’t quite to say the least. United are on the back of a good result, which saw Patrice Evra and Chicharito find the net respectively. Rangers are always up for a biggie and there is no bigger game for them than this! Here is a little teaser of what the stadiums are like on a night like this π
Roma vs Bayern Munich:
Roma are a solid side that play well when they play in Italy. De Rossi is said to be back from injury and is a pivotal player in the works at the club. Let’s hope they don’t play like they did at United a few years back, when they were on the end of a hammering π Bayern Munich are without captain Van Bommel, Arjen Robben, Klose, Olic and a number of key players. This one will go to the wire but I must say it is a very, very entertaining battle we have brewing.
Auxerre vs AC MIlan:
Milan are a different side away from home but I am sure they will have enough in the tank to see this one home. Their experience and class should be enough for a tricky, young Auxerre side. Don’t get me wrong though, Auxerre are no push overs! I could actually see an upset coming here, as Auxerre could just be too energetic for an aging Milan side.
Braga vs Arsenal:
This one required that I get on Google and check out the match preview. I don’t know much about Braga, but I am sure playing against Arsenal is a good enough reason for all of them to perform! They ain’t a bad side and should put up a fight, having saying that I am going to say The Gunners wil win by 2 clear goals. At the moment they are knocking the ball around nicely and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are right up there this year come May! Chemakh with the opener in a 3-1 win π
