Last week, adidas football affirmed its leadership as a global football innovator by launching the laceless Mercury pack, a cutting edge range of boots brought to life in glorious CHROME and inspired by the trophies that players will strive to win this summer. The distinctly CHROME boots will be worn for the first time by star names including Leo Messi, Paul Pogba and Gareth Bale during the UEFA Champions League final, Copa America and UEFA Euro 2016.
Today, the Mercury pack launches in South Africa, with three designs: ACE 16.1, Messi 16.1 and X16.1. The pack focuses on speed, agility and control for the best players in the game.
The X16.1 features a state-of-the-art PURECUT SOCK SYSTEM that provides a more aerodynamic effect to the boot and an updated SPRINTFRAME outsole which delivers traction and stability for high-speed movements. This makes it the perfect boot for the likes of Bale who will be wearing the laceless version at Wales’ first European Championships this summer.
These #X16 are the pick of the bunch for me. Hoping the Adidas family pop me a pair to review, because they are boss! Watch this space…
The ACE 16.1 also gets the Mercury Pack treatment following its launch earlier in 2016. In its mercury version, the boots get an upper dynamic compression material and non-Stop grip that deliver an unrivalled surface for close ball control, ensuring players’ touch is flawless no matter the playing conditions. The ACE 16.1 is well suited for a player like Paul Pogba, one of the most talked about players in the world. He will wear the laceless boots as he aims for international glory on home soil this summer.
The final boots in the Mercury Pack collection is the MESSI 16.1. Created for the greatest footballer of all time, the boots have a deadly agility knit material that mold around your foot within milliseconds. In addition, it features a PUREAGILITY heel lining, which delivers the ultimate fit allowing players to create the moments of inspiration on the pitch. Messi will wear the Mercury boots as he continues to break new ground and win a first Copa America this summer.
The three boots in the Mercury Pack will be available from mid-June on adidas ecom – www.adidas.co.za/football, adidas Own retail stores, Cross Trainer Sandton as well as at selected football specialists across the country, at a retail price of R2499.
