Spring has Sprung which means one thing for the residents who reside near the Kimberley Hole… SKATE or DIE! Kimberley, South Africa plays host to Africa’s biggest skate competition each year, where they hold the annual World Skate Championships. This year they have re-branded the competition and it will Officially be known as the KIMBERLEY DIAMOND CUP 2013.
They kicked off with the first of four Grand Slam build up events this weekend over at the Boogaloos park in Stoneridge, Johannesburg. To see who pulled of the sickest tricks, took home the prize money and the full event review click [here].
In the end, it was Trae Rice’s smooth flow of the park complimented by his level of consistency and trick difficulty that convinced the judges that Trae was worthy of representing some of the country’s best skating at KDC, allowing Trae to take home the wildcard entry to the KDC Am. Next weekend they are at Boogaloos at Canal Walk in Cape Town. Pull in!
Boogaloos also provided several needy skaters of Alexandria township with fresh complete skateboards to cap off the night. That’s pretty Gnarley if you ask me.
