On a day when Ryan Giggs was voted the best ever player in United history, you just kind of knew he was going to put in a breath taking performance against Villa last night! Giggs was all over the park and once again played a pivotal role in the result. He was tireless and his touches and work rate were superb! Sir Alex was said to be a bit upset that a player like Bryan Law didn’t make the cut, but it sure has some big names! I am very happy to see that a keeper made the list and without a doubt he was one of our most influential players during that specific period! The vote was conducted on the Official Manchester United website, where fans could vote for their favourite hero!
“When you look at the galaxy of stars that have been at this club, this is a huge honour for Ryan,” the manager goes on in the March issue of Inside United. “There are some who would maybe put others ahead of him – players such as Denis Law, George Best or Eric Cantona – but nobody can argue he doesn’t deserve to be in that top bracket.”
The List
1. Ryan Giggs
2. Eric Cantona
3. George Best
4. Bobby Charlton
5. Cristiano Ronaldo
6. Paul Scholes
7. David Beckham
8. Roy Keane
9. Peter Schmeichel
10. Wayne Rooney
Although I think the fact that Giggsy is the most declared player in United history also affected the choices, I would have had to go with my all time best, Eric “The King” Cantona, who came in a close second to the Welshman 😉
