Will Ferrell patrolled the red carpet at the New York premiere of his new film The Other Guys. In the comedy, Ferrell and co-star Mark Wahlberg play a pair of mismatched detectives trying to make a name for themselves. The 43-year-old actor told Parade.com that having the gorgeous Eva Mendez as his on-screen wife was a dream realized.
1. How was it getting closer to Eva Mendes?
“That was a childhood and an adult dream. That was a lifetime dream. But she kept laughing at me a lot.”
2.Was it hard playing it cool when it came to his gorgeous co-star?
“When you see her in person, she’s not that beautiful really… she’s just kind of average. If you were sitting next to her on the bus, you probably wouldn’t notice her.”
3. Did you feel the need to bulk up playing alongside Mark?
“I didn’t have to. I already had the physique, I just mentally prepared. We didn’t have a chest-off.”
4. How was it spending time with the real NYPD?
“I did a drive-along with the detectives and I visited the DA’s office and a homicide division out in Coney Island and I went to the shooting range — none of which I do in the movie. But it was fun to just see how hard these guys work and what they really have to do.”
5. Have you ever talked your way out of a parking ticket?
“No, in fact that’s been one of my few brushes with law enforcement, getting a speeding ticket.”
