Restaurateur Reg Macdonald from Aces’n’Spades, The Village Idiot and Villains Ale House (which is the new concept coming to Cape Town this October which you can read more about HERE on my blog) has teamed up with Guy Wood and Durban surf stars Grant Twiggy Baker and Jordy Smith, to introduce 3 new rooms in the former Assembly space. Although technically still one venue it has been split up into 3 completely separate bar, lounge and nightclub concepts.
This is the events venue and nightclub space. It will focus on a state of the art sound system and lighting to cater for the Electronic DJ scene and Live Bands. Large dance floor area surrounded by plush leather booths. Bar and smoking section. Entrance is on Constitution Street. Will be open weekends only, Friday & Saturday nights and for large events.
HARRINGTONS
An upmarket style cocktail lounge and bar, upstairs overlooking Harrington street. Beautifully polished wooden accents, open windows, velvet bottle service booths, a smoking area and boutique DJ set up for late evening revelry. Will be open Wednesday – Saturday, 7pm onwards.
SURFAROSA
An edgy neighborhood bar with a subliminal punk and surf influence. This is on the ground floor and opens up onto an outdoor patio. This will open up 3pm daily and will also have a small food offering.
We have assembled a great management team to the venues. Kyle Lucky from Dead Lucky and One Eight Seven will be running punk styled SurfaRosa and curating the fitting music and vibe. Kyle Bownes will be taking the helm at Harringtons and District, giving it a strong local influence.
Strange Loving music will be programming the electronic music line up at District as well as doing a weekly Friday night with special guests. We are very excited to introduce the new spaces to the public. They are all slated to open in December.
