Cigarettes, also known to some as entjies, ciggies, smokes, single’s, a skyf, a puff, nkowza’s or rollies, or what ever you like to call them. I noticed only the other day in a box of Rothmans Red 20’s that there was a tiny slip of paper inside. It said on it ‘Recommended Selling Price R24.70’. Funny, because the person I was with payed R27? That is the joy of adding a mark-up on a product like this, it doesn’t matter what you charge, people are going to succumb to its evil demise. I my self used to smoke those ghastly things, but haven’t had one for quite some years. That was definitely one of the best things I have ever done!
Cigarettes have become so expensive these days it is not even feasible to smoke the damn things. Unless you don’t have a problem with money obviously, but what I am saying is that half the people that do smoke, 100% can’t afford to! It is done as a pass time and people get on board at a young age, from then on it is just seen as the socially cool thing to do. I mean, I wish I never started kupping those death things…There are so many fake single’s, boxes and cartons being sold out there as well, you never know what the hell you are getting. I know I definitely used to get a few single’s that tasted like Sahawi and cost the same as Marlboro’s!
Cigarette marketing has been bannned in many countries around the world and smoking indoors has since been erraticated due to harsher laws being enforced. I guess this is a good sign, but did you know that the warning that is forced to be printed on the pack has been one of the most successful tactics of all? I read that in a book called Brand Sense by Marcus Lindstrom, a man who is heavily envolved in finding out why we do what we do, with regard to purchasing decisions and advertising etc…
I was wondering which your favourite brand was and why? If you have time to answer please do I SWEAR I won’t spam you!
