After introducing themselves to The Mother City in 2016 with a simple structure, this year SA Cocktail Week (SACW) is changing the game all together by shaking things up with The SA Cocktail Week Awards! Ten handpicked cocktail venues will be partnered with five different brand companies to create signature cocktails, foster creativity behind the bar and introduce our vibrant local community to the international market.
In the spirit of winning the best in categories such as Most Loved Cocktail Bar, Top Bartender, Most Enthusiastic Brand Ambassador, The People’s Favorite Brand and, most of all, Best Signature Cocktail The Grand Opening will house over 20 pop-up bars, giving festival goers a taste of what’s to come for the week. From 4:30pm – 10:00pm on Saturday, 4 November 2017 the Cape Quarter’s traditional Lifestyle Village feel will be transformed into a unique showcase of Cape Town’s most premium cocktail venues.
Pop-up bars by the likes of Asoka, Orphanage Cocktail Emporium, Arcade, Café Caprice and Burger & Lobster can be expected to have their top mixologist whipping up spectacular signature cocktails, made with their partner spirit, sending taste buds on a tantalizing journey right to the VOTE button! Going head to head for the public’s vote will also be The Twankey Bar, Primal Eatery, Cause & Effect, and HQ! To keep cocktail lovers entertained, nothing but the best in local DJs, along with lounges, delicious food, tons of entertainment and a theme that supports sustainability should be anticipated.
For the remainder of the week, ticket holders are encouraged to visit as many of the 10 partner venues as possible, using their SACW wrist band to attend SA Cocktail Week feature events and redeem their 50% off signature cocktails, designed specifically for the week, and available only to people with a valid wrist band (which will be handed out in exchange for tickets at The Grand Opening). Cocktail & spirit enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice with a range of diverse signature cocktails including brands such as Bacardi, Galliano, Tanqueray, Absolut Vodka, Jim Beam, Havana Club and a few other favourites!
To bid adieu to this premium event, an exclusive Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday 11 November at HQ where the best of the best will be unveiled to an intimate group of media, industry professionals and partners. Adding a cherry on top and to celebrate the first event of its’ kind, SA Cocktail Week has partnered with Machangulo Beach lodge to send one lucky duo to an all-inclusive 4-night getaway at the luxury lodge in Mozambique, all ticket holders will automatically be entered into the draw, which will take place at The Grand Opening.
Tickets are available in phases via Webtickets and starting at R250. Guests are encouraged to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment and also save big! A percentage of all proceeds will aid the Hidden Falls foundation which uses outdoor and group activity to empower youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
