So it’s the weekend again and the end of year is almost upon us! The trance scene must be heating up down in the Cape. Definitely need more of that up in Jozi but what can we do?

Round 4:

After a frantic phone call at around 11:30pm from my man David Kenni Miller aka Humerous a couple of weeks back looking for a the recipe for my famous Cucumber Martini, I decided to let you all know how awesome this drink is! So here is a recipe that was given the okay by the client it was given to and she actually said; “This is even better than the ones they make at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Los Angeles” Obviously Dave has the skills to pull it off, so nice one bro and I hope you get some flange out of it 😉

This drink looks fantastic, definitely up my dark alley 😉

Method:

First take a clean martini glass and either fill with ice while making the drink, or, if you have space put some in your freezer prior to the time. This is vital as this specific cocktail is served without ice and therefore the glass needs to be super chilled.

Take +- 10cm of fresh cucumber and cut into small cubes, place this into your mixing glass.

After this you can add ¾ a shot of sugar syrup (gomme syrup/sugar water) and then muddle this until all the juices are extracted from the cucumber.

Pour 12.5ml lime juice, half a shot or half a large lime squeeze.

Then take the best vodka you can afford and put 37.5ml ( a shot and a half ) into the mixing glass.

Fill your glass with cubed ice and shake it well! You should have a nice foamy consistency with this and I will say it again, shake  bladdy well !!!

Now as an added extra you could use a mixture of ground Himalayan rock salt and pepper to coat half the rim of the glass. For this you use a lime wedge and coat half the glass with the juice, and, simply collect the salt and pepper mixture from a saucer to make the rim.

You then double strain the mixture into the chilled martini glass and serve with a cucumber spring like in the photo, or a wheel will do. Sip and enjoy!
