My local steakhouse HQ is set to host a unique pairing dinner with Bain’s Whisky! On 24 May at 7pm, HQ will be hosting a uniquely paired Whisky Dinner in partnership with Bain’s Whisky at their restaurant in Cape Town, 100 Shortmarket Street.
As one of the few independent whisky personalities representing whisky in SA and abroad, Bernard Gutman will be the official host for the evening, sharing his passion for whisky and food. Along with Bain’s Whisky, HQ has also paired up with another one of the biggest whisky brands in the country, Three Ships, offering guests the opportunity to taste, experience and learn more about these amazing offerings.
The 3-course meal is R295 per person and is inclusive of a welcome drink, aperitif and the 3-course meal with paired whiskies.

APERITIF
Monkey Nut infused Bain’s Whisky Negroni (Bain’s, aperol & in-house spiced vermouth ) served with mouthwatering canapés – the perfect start to your tasting experience.
STARTER
A crisp salad of cos and iceberg lettuce, toasted pine nuts, Parmesan shavings and dressed with a Dijon mustard vinaigrette.
Pairing: Three Ships Bourbon Cask
MAIN
250g Sirloin wet aged for 32 days and grilled perfectly medium-rare, served with skinny fries & Café de Paris butter.
Pairing: Three Ships 5 Year Old Premium Select
OR
(V) Portobello mushrooms stuffed with a rich Duxelle, gratinated with Parmesan cheese and served with skinny fries & Café de Paris butter.

DESSERT
Toffee & chocolate torte served with cinnamon ice cream.
Pairing: Bain’s Whisky served ice cold in snifter with chocolate dripping rim.
