I woke up with insomnia (again) at 03:00 am this morning only to see a Tweet from my buddies @BarryHayman & @Danger2U or what seemed like a pretty deep fire blazing on the slopes of Table Mountain. After hearing my one friend had been evacuated, along with apparently 30 other households, I thought I might as well go try help or get some pictures for my blog. What else can you do at 4am with a bought of insomnia.
I must just say that the FIRE FIGHTERS deserve loads of credit because the fire was on the brink of burning houses to smithereens!!! The fire was said to have started around 00:53 am, with 3 helicopters activated for aerial support. Apparently @emlingtonpost called it in so respect to her! We were damn lucky that the wind didn’t play a bigger factor and actually started to die off a bit, because when I arrived on the scene at 04:23 am it was pumping. At some points I couldn’t see a thing from the wind blowing all the smoke and ash into my eyes. Check out my gallery of 25 exclusive images I took.

As far as I know, no houses were damaged, people PLEASE put out your fucking smokes or if you are going for a late night rook up on Table Mountain do the irie thing and put out your stompies! Leaving glass bottles around is also another major cause of fires, let’s protect our beloved 7th wonder of the World for God’s sake!
