I have decided to team up with the best bartender/mixologist I know to start a drink of the week category. Ross has worked in bars all over the world and has been on cocktail duty at my place on numerous occasions 😉 He is also a good mate of mine who currently works for Shaker in Johannesburg. Some of the recipes are classics, with his special twist, whereas some are entirely his own creation. He will let us know which category they fall into each week. Now that the introduction is over lets get to the fun part, drinking 😉
Round 1:
The first round is a classic really, but the recipe is the way Calvin Shushu and I made it at Baraza back in the day before and during the Goldfish boom.
Strawberry Daquiri:
37.5ml white rum
12.5ml strawberry liquor
3 fresh strawberries de-leafed
12.5ml sugar syrup/water
a dash of freshly squeezed lime
Add strawberry juice for texture when blending with crushed ice, roughly 2 shots or so. The trick is to get a nice smooth consisty and balance, basically your straws should stand straight, but you can drink through them easily without pulling a face !
Put it in the funky’ist glass you have and you get away with a sugar rim and strawberry half for garnish 😉
